I’m trying pretty hard to hit the 5 mile mark this week, but I’ve found that when I’ve run around 4 miles, my feet get tingly and my toes get a little numb. The first 2-3 miles are usually fine, but I find the longer the distance I try to run the more tingly my feet get.

Any idea how to stop this or should I just loosen up my laces a bit? I’m thinking it’s a circulation thing, but wanted to outsource the question just in case anyone else may know what to do.

  1. maisyeah said: Definitely circulation. Loosen those laces. If that doesn’t work, you may need bigger shoes. I bought mine a half size up and still kept the laces a tad loose because of how much they swell when running long distances.

  3. sherjan said: CEP compression socks. THE BEST investment I’ve made for distance running.
  4. dangerchin said: I have the same problem but just thought it was A subtle sign from God that I shouldn’t be running. ;)
  5. perseveraamor said: When I bought running shoes, they told me that your feet expand as you run. The longer you run, the more they expand. Your shoes could be too small, or you could just need to loosen the laces. I’ve been told to buy a half size up for distance running

  7. garycope said: You might want to consider compression socks or sleeves for your legs if you think it’s a circulatory issue. Also, try slowing your pace, or walking a bit in between miles and build up to five. You can do it, Mary!
  8. katiefru said: This happened to me a lot when i had too small of running shoes—-still is normal in the right size. I would say loosen and be sure to scrunch and wiggle toes after a couple miles. Interested to hear others input too!!
  9. graceinplace said: Yep, more than likely your shoes are too small or your laces are too tight. Normally your running shoe should be 1 size bigger than what you’re regular shoe size is, since your feet swell while you run!
  10. imeanduh said: Loosen your laces and, if you haven’t, go to a running store and they’ll fit your foot to the appropriate shoe
