Hope you all had an awesome 4th!
Ours consisted of sleeping in a bit - although we got up at 7:30… and lazying around the house. Matt had the day off so it was nice to spend time with him. We cleaned up a bit and he ran some errands. I made nachos for lunch and then we decided to see the new Spider Man movie.
Now for a quick review of the movie… this was a rare occasion that they absolutely NAILED the casting for a super hero movie. In Green Lantern, the story wasn’t lacking, but Blake Lively was SO bad. They always try to cast a beautiful girl in these kinds of things, but she rarely seems believable. Emma Stone in this role? Just PERFECTION. Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben? NAILED IT. Sally Field as Aunt May? Killed it. And of course, Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker couldn’t have been better. The whole movie was great. The chemistry among the cast is really what set it apart from any other super hero movie. At first, I thought a reincarnation of the Spider Man series was unnecessary because the Tobey Maguire/Kirsten Dunst ones were hardly outdated, but this proved me wrong.
Anyway, after the movie, we set up Netflix on our Wii and I tried to get Matt to get into Downton Abbey, but he just wasn’t having it which is unfortunate because EVERYONE knows that’s such a great show. I kept telling him that the first episode was a little slow because it sets everything up, but he wouldn’t bite.
The rest of our night was for a cook out with friends. I made bacon cheddar burgers and spiraled some hot dogs. Our friends had just finished their deck complete with a fire pit so this was essentially a kick off to many summer nights at their place. It was the perfect way to spend the 4th - good food and good company, how could you ever go wrong?
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th!
